Walking tour to city temples & three king monument

      Visit to Wat Chiangman. The oldest temple in Chiangmai ,this temple was built by King Mengrai (1962 AD.) the ancient venerated Buddha statue, Pra Setang Khamani or Pra Kaew Khao has been enshrined in this temple. Behind the chanting hall, you can view The Pagoda with the old typical Lanna design that has the statues of elephant around the Pagoda’s and Chedi’s basement of Pagoda or Chedi.

     Continue to Wat Prasigha that has been well known for the old teak wood chapel built with teak wood carvings and 24 karat gold leaves (built in 1345 AD). In this teak wood chapel called "Viharn Lai Come", you can learn the way of Chiangmai people’s  life 700 hundreds of years ago at the old paintings on the wall. The oldest Buddha statue in Chiang Sean style named "Prasigha" is enshrined in this chapel. Walk around to see how the monks live and study.  And after that for  another 5 minutes in order to arrive at The Three Kings monument located at the center of the city. Walk around to take somes nice pictures of the monument,

 Visit  Wat Chedi Luang considered as the most beautiful temple of the city.  The biggest monument called Chedi or Pagoda built in14th century by King Saen Muang Ma, planed to bury the ashes of his father but not finished, until in the 15th century, King Tilokaraj completed this 82 meter high and installed the Emerald Buddha in the eastern niche.
The chanting hall of this temple is so impressive and stunning with the golden standing Buddha ,symbol of peace, works of Lanna art on the walls ,ceiling, pillars and panels.
 You can walk from Wat Chedi Luang to
Wat Phan Tao.In this temple, you can see the chanting hall made of old teak wood that was taken from the royal residence of King Mahotara  Prathed. Lanna design showing the royal rank with teak wood carvings and peacocks can be presented beautifully at the top of the entrance.

Culture to Learn before Visiting Temples:

* Smoking tobacco is not allowed to do in temple area * Wearing short skirt or shorts and opened shoulders (lady) should be covered before entering the holy buildings * while being in the chanting hall, pointing feet in front of the altars where Buddha statues are locates should be avoided, and sitting on the floor with crossed legs as meditating position should be observed * Taking pictures of monks can be done but please ask them before doing so * For Ladies keeping a reasonable distance from the monks is recommenced since monk are not married and cannot be tempted * Shoes are always taken off before going inside the chanting hall
